We have a problem and I hope together we can solve it!!!!

About a week ago my little buddy tried to take a nip out of my coat when I put in on to go out. He also does it to my wife.

Normally we would just leave after we put him in his kennel. However, on those days when one of us is still home he stands in the kitchen and tries to nip at our coats. Last night he did the same thing and he was growling.

Now, Murphy is usually high strung at the best of times but this latest reaction
scares the living daylights out of both of us.

Any suggestions???????????????

We have had growling experiences with Wes too, and it is frightening. Wes is high strung too and the growling seems to be fear- rather than, aggression-based.

The fear-growling was exacerbated by our recent trip to the vet, where I had to restrain him.

I am certainly an expert of nothing but it seems to me that he is trying to say that he really loves his mamma and daddy and please don't leave the pack or if you do at least take me with you. Both of our dogs do this. To ease the puppies fear of being left, I'll go outside with him in my arms and we wave good byt to daddy. If both of are leaving he gets his carrot in the kennell which allows a quick escape. He know we are coming back and he has Maya there to "talk" to while we are out.

We have the same problem with Abe when he feels he is being left alone. My wife takes the kids to school in the mornings while I sleep ( I work a long evening shift 3PM - 3AM) and abe sometimes gets a little rowdy. I have tried to get her to put him back in the bed with me but this doesn't usually work so well. We can usually sneak off with a peace offering of a favorite chew toy or a small snack as some of the others have suggested. I agree that it is nothing more than he wants the whole family here with him .
