Those look like a great idea!

But, not sure which size would be best?? The smaller one looks pretty small?? Can they lay down in it?? We would have two in the back seat.

We have a mid-size car....

Cathy,

We have the mid size for the Westie and she can lay down in it fine. Of course the baby is swallowed up by it. I think for our Cairn babies the mid size is perfect. Two in the back seat of a mid size would fit very well.

When you look at the back seat belt, imagine that as you buckle it, the bottom part is restraining the car seat. The dogs harness has a D ring on it. That is hooked to the retraint that goes around the upper portion of the seat belt. Thus holding the dog in. They suggest that you pin the retraint to the seat belt until the dog learns that he/she should not be trying to get out of the car seat. They have plenty of movement within the car seat and yes, can jump over the side but then they get stuck with no room to go anywhere so that ends that game very quickly!

To get Maya used to it, I left it out in the living room for a week right next to her toy box. She used it as a bed and when she saw it in the car she got right in it. Now I just tell her to get in her bed and she jumps right in and waits to be buckled up. I love the little drawer in it. I keep treats, a portable water dish, poopy bag and a sweater for her. This way I never forget something when we go for the day.

I love it. Well worth the price. Good luck!

Nope. Just went to Petco and got a harness to match his collar which of course, matches his lead. Are we obssessed with these little guys or what :D

I like the harness much better for walking anyway. Much less choking on their end and more control on my end. The Westie can get out of her collar when she sees a kitty, etc. The Cairn won't have the chance to bail. Mama is calling the shots with this one!

I'm so disappointed...I emailed the carseat company (excellent customer service) but was told that I would need a lap belt in order to use the car seat. Our vehicle (subaru forester) only has shoulder belts for all the back seats. I'm so glad I emailed them with my questions.
I will still be looking for alternate solutions to my transportation problems. Thanks for all you inputs and information. I just love this forum!!! :)

Oooook....hopefully the last question! LOL!

When you say "mid-size", are you talkin' about the 'regular' size this website shows or the bigger 'oversized' one?

Thanks again!

Cathy

Hi Cathy,

The regular size. I think the description says that it will hold one medium sized dog. Hope that helps.

Hey Cathy,

The green one. That gives them plenty of room to roam and sleep. The other one makes me claustrophobic. Hope you get one. I think you'll be really happy with it.

Kayharley, does your Subaru have the shoulder/lap combinations? I think they're required on all cars now. Anyway, if you do, go to any store that sells infant car seats and there is a metal "clip" type thing that secures the torso part of the seatbelt to the lap part. We did this with our kids' carseats and it should work with this puppy carseat too. I hope I didn't confuse you!

I understand completely. Only problem is I already bought a carrier and I can't bring it back. I'll probably wait until Madison stops chewing and destroying everything in sight and then get one. Thanks

Thanks, Ann!

I am still pondering whether to get the seat(s) as I need TWO of them! Alot of $$!

Hubby thinks I am a nut but I just don't like the dogs loose in the back seat. Gotta do some convincing with him, I guess.

Thanks again for all your help and I'll let ya know when I get them.....

Cathy
