It has taken me a week to be able to post this message. Last Wednesday, Feb. 7th, we helped our boy Eric cross over The Rainbow Bridge. He was 15. Many of you have read my posts about him and his recent struggle with glaucoma, OM and total blindness. Early last week he suddenly was unable to walk or stand. He had a slow growing cancer that was deteriorating his entire spine. That combined with his other issues severely compromised his quality of life and so we sent him to better place, where he can see, walk and play again. He is with Andy, our first Cairn, and all our other pets who have gone before us. I am thankful Eric was here long enough to meet the new puppy. Eric had a good, long life and the memories we shared will last the rest of our lives. There is a hole in my heart again that only time can heal. You all know that empty feeling. Thanks for listening and sharing your pets with us. We all help each other, we laugh at our Cairns antics, and we share these losses together.

Eric, you are gone from sight but will live in my heart forever!

I am so sorry you have lost Eric. He is in heaven and has a lot of our friends up there with him. He will want you to be fine as you know how much they worry about us and know he is always with you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Even tho I have a full house w/ Carins and other dogs that definitely fill my life w/ joy, there are still those wounds from past pets that never seem to fully heal. I do know that empty feeling and understand those holes in your heart. Time will never really heal your heart, it will only patch it w/ Eric's paw print.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know that Eric knew how much he was loved and is very thankful that you sent him to a better place where he feels like a little puppy again. You will never be "over it" but may God help to heal your heart.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know the feeling too well. Adding what everyone else has said and also
Toomanypaws couldn't of said it any better. I truly think we never heal I know I haven't. Remember that he will be in your heart forever. Eric lived a wonderful life. My heart is heavy for you.

I am so sorry about your loss. I lost my Sandy February 6, the day before you. It has been a week and half and I am still crying. I miss him so much and can't believe he is gone. He missed his 14th birthday by 4 days. He also had cancer, and it also affected his spine. His spine was sticking up from his skin and his back end got very skinny. He couldn't walk anymore. It was so sad. I hope him and Eric are up in heaven having fun looking down on both of us. God bless Eric and Sandy.

PS. My Sandy looks just like your Eric in that picture.

Eric left you with 15 year's worth of good and happy memories to live by. I feel your pain....it will get better with time...hang in there!

Cynthia,

I can only echo everyone else's sentiments. My heart breaks for you on the loss of Eric and I believe, as do the others, that you will be joined again with him. Please know that you are in all of our thoughts.

Eric is running and prancing through the clouds...watching over his owners who lovingly watched over him for so long. So sorry for your loss.
