Today I start the Back To Their Roots week at my trainer facilities. She has a small farm/kennel where she holds this. There will be pack demos, tunnel demos, field trips to stores etc with our dogs, grooming talks, temperment assesments, Manners in Minutes seminar. Demos in agility, tracking, confirmation and showmanship. There will be Airdales, Lakelands, Jack Russels & Cairn Terriers. I have really been looking forward to this. THe main stuff isnt till fri-sun, so I probably wont post a lot of pictures till after the weekend. Anyway, just thought I'd share the fun.

Well it has been so interesting this week so far. Pat has a lot of people who have rescue dogs and some still have issues. We are getting all the dogs use to each other and different situations. I havent taken a lot of pics, but thought I'd show you a few. The non terrier dogs are example dogs and dogs that trigger fears in some dogs. Pat has a lot of dogs she's rescued and keeps at her kennel. Like Dillon, the gigantic wolf hound!!!! And Y-Lee, the enormous German Shepard that was a street dog and is afraid of dogs bigger than him, like Dillon. And then there's dori and ellie who arent afraid of any dogs cause they are the small ones!!!! Most of the dogs at BTTR are Lakelands since that's what Pat breeds. Tomorrow is our field trip, really looking forward to that. And of course the big weekend.

Here's a shot of Smudgie, dark lakie making sure everyone in the room knows he's the boss!!!

Here we are out in the back, they had a blast out there and were a "hit" shall we say with the intact Lakelands!!

The girls were tired and thought they needed a ride from this nice gal...

They loved this ramp...

Ok, the weekend main events have not even started and I'm totally worn out!!! Man I'm getting old!!! I had a day from 10am till 8:30pm yesterday. Started off with the dogs in the field running in pack form...boy is that fun to watch them interact.

Back inside to trainging room we had a young male lakeland that 'thought' he was the dominate male....wrong. Pat brought in Smudgie her packleader Lakeland....he is a wonderful dog. They tetherd Chance (alpha wannabe) in the center and brought in Smudgie. Smudgie is so cool, first he walks the room, checks out every dog in the room, and then goes to Chance. Chance is scared, There is no fighting, but Smudgie corrects Chance one time and walks away. Chance knows who the boss is. They put chance back on his settle rug and things move on. It is pretty cool to see a pack of dogs get along like that....This is Smudgie and Chance is on the cord.

after a few work outs with differnt dogs/breeds and lunch we head out on our field trip. First stop is an open field at a park. We take and stake our our dogs on long 30' leads so they cannot touch each other, then we all walk away and group up for a talk. We all start off walking between each dog in a group and stop and approach each dog petting talking to the dog while the owner gives the "easy" command to their dog....it's amazing how wonderful they did, no jumping, no barking, beautiful....dori was the only one to roll over for a belly rub! This pic does not do the scene justice, there were a field full of dogs....I needed a chopper for this shot!!!!

after that it was off to the pet store, their had to be over a dozen dogs in there (forgot to take pic) and you would have never known it....totally awesome. After there we went to the Dairy Queen...had to refuel...and then to the park across the street along the river. Dori and her ducks....boy I'd hate to see it if she got a hold of one of those.

Of course I found a photo-op for Dori while at the second park....

In class Pat has a toy that squeels and vibrates, well Dori went crazy when she threw it down, One correction and Dori didnt leap or bark the second time...amazing.

Well another busy day at BTTR, i had to leave early though, i was exhausted. Looking forward to the actual events tomorrow, this week has been preconditioning the dogs with each other as they arrive. I took Ellie today, and did she have a day. Pat was using her in demos because all the males were hanging around her in the worse way yesterday, well today she was playing one male against the other and they decided to let her know who was boss, along with a 120 pound german shepard. And just so you know, there has never been any harm to any of these dogs, things go rather smoothly which is amazing since most of them have never met before. Here's just a few shots from today. BTW, if you're not interested in this, which is what it looks like please tell me and i wont post anymore about it.

Here's Ellie doing her "Queen of the world" imitation....

Here's ellie taking a dip with some of the gang, she was running with the big dogs today and they didnt like it much!

I'm not sure what happened here but Pat thought it was funny. OF course Ellie is in on it.

Lastly, Here's Ellie meeting head on with Y-Lee the german shepard.

Absolutely wonderful! That is just what Elliott needs to get along with other dogs better. Thanks for sharing those great pics. Yeah Ellie and the Shephard. You rule, girl!

Boy oh boy, it does teach them to get along with others....or they'll get their butts bit!!! LOL THe thing with little dogs like them, they are shorter than almost everyone else so they arent afraid of them. They could get theirselves into trouble that way. So it's important for them to learn how to deal with a pak.

They did races today, right out of the box....it was a riot. Since they had never done it before they werent quite sure of what to do. Dori sorta just stood there for a minute then took off, she went crazy, i could hardly catch her. She did come in last, but that was ok. She did better the second run. Ellie won her heat, the other dog didnt know what was going on!!!!! LOL...really fun. I didnt stay the whole day, i got a headache in the heat and the race track a 1/2 mile away was driving me nuts!!! The dogs are crapped out too......I think we'll all sleep in late tomorrow.
