Back here after almost a year..... :shy: and looking at my old posts / topics i'm now even more embarrassed. Riley as wilfully disobedient as he was at 13 months (now 26 months!) We're "refreshing" his training lessons. and because i know he understands its actually quite funny how he just walks away when he decides the grass is actually greener / smellier a hundred feet away. BUT he is doing this whining thing - and when i go see what's up - he does't need to go out (we've no garden and he'd NEVER pee inside) doens't want to play.... odd little mannerism or is this indicative of something else -

Sophie

PS: should mention he was very sick Feb - Mar - nearly lost him the vet said. still don't know what it was but probably poisoning / infection which knocked his liver and gallbladder for 6. So while well familiar with the danger signs this presented the whinning is new.....

Hello, Angus and I are new since you were last here. He's my seven month old red brindle who is just moving into the adolescent phase 'forgetting' some things he knew from the beginning.
This is the place to come for help and comfort that's for sure. Glad you came back.

Does he have pain maybe? what does his vet say?

Hiya, its not pain, have checked with the Vet. To be honest i think it is attention seeking. Since he was so ill he is quite possesive over my attention so that could be it. Just have to be consistent with the Alpha stuff and keep an eye on him....

So sorry to read that Riley was ill. I too would worry that the whining might be related to that and its good to know that the vet was able to reassure you. Ruffy has also developed this "tactic". I use that word because in his case he's discovered that whining always gets my attention. My only problem is interpreting what it is that he wants. English is not Ruffy's first language, so I have to go down his entire "needs" list each time, asking: Do you need a walk?... A treat?... A game?... A chewy?... A toy? etc.).

Yes, our cairns are so charming, I frequently find myself muttering: "#*!*#... "!
