aaartnaz: We rescued our Rickie (Cairn) from a shelter and we have a Boxer, 7yrs (male) and Shih Tzu, 10yrs (female).

We knew we would have problems with the Shih Tzu, but that's another story. As for the Boxer (Rufus) and Rickie are inseparable.

Rufus is so gentle with him even during rough play. Rickie climbs all over Rufus and bites his ears and lips all the time.

Our Boxer isn't huge but he weights 60lbs compared to Rickie's 13lbs. Not to mention the Boxer's mouth can hold Rick's entire head in it and with one bite crack his head. We have had Rickie for 7 months now and have no issues what so ever getting along with Rufus. Again, as for the Shih Tzu, she is old and grouchy and let's Rickie have it when she doesn't want to be bothered which is always.

Good luck with your choice, I'm sure it will turn out great. I think little dogs secretly believe they are LARGE dogs anyway.

We have a 110home lb. Labordoodle, Ben, who we had when we rescued Lily a year ago. They love each other. I don't think Lily realizes her size.

I'm new at posting, could someone help me find a post on Cairn allergies?
