Our little Charlotte got spayed 4 days ago and is doing surprisingly well. I did'nt leave the cone of shame on very long because she just looked to patethic, but the insicion looks like it is doing great, not red at all. The only thing strange is she keeps having these little spasms every 10-15 minutes. Not like a seziure but more like something inside is goosing her or something. She doesnt seem to be in pain but she will kind of spasm then look at her belly like "What the heck"? Also if you feel her belly where the insicion is there is a lump, kind of feels like what a hernia would feel like. Is this normal or should I try and get her back in?

She is pretty much up and around like normal, did some zoomies earlier tonight and even is jumping up on the couch. (it's hard keeping her down and calm).

Any insight would be appreciated.

Hmm...maybe a reaction to the medication? I would ask my vet about that one! Give them a call! Never can be too careful. Ripley's scar looked herniated for a good while after her spay. It's inflammation around the stitches (probably the internal ones since it's not red). The vet said it was fine and it went away completely.

How old is she?

It may not be related to spaying, but I have seen young animals quiver/spasm over the years and oddly enough it can be attributed to growth spurts. (the quivering is the nerves trying to 'recallobrate' the length of the limbs etc for coordination) Generally it's only noticeable when they're resting...

The lump could be scar tissue or temporary inflammation, I've seen this more often as dissolving stitches have become more common, but ask your vet. I have a kitten who now has a bump where her spaying incision was, my vet looked at it as I wondered if it was a hernia too, but just a big bump of a scar.

one of my cat's had a lump like that after spaying. it had something to do with the wound draining, and was not a big problem. but if this is bothering charlotte it is worth getting it checked out. it could be something unexpected. most vet's will talk to you on the phone about it, they might be able to identify the cause very easily.
