So, my now 14 week old Cairn Kiko not only so adorable but found a new place to take a nap and bring his fav toys to sit and chew on. And it's right under my chair, where i mostly spend my time. His so silly, every time I'm on the chair he park him self right under me. I love it, except for the fact that i get to step on toys or his bully stick and or Kiko attacking my sock... Very active little guy... his FUN!!!

Btw, I know his a pup and biting is definitely on the menu but, does anyone know how to bring the biting down a notch?

Im also adding this little vid of him meeting the cousin's pet.

Are you certain he's 16 weeks? He looks about 8-10. Especially being so very tiny next to poms.

Generally it's beneficial for puppies and kittens to stay with its siblings to start sorting out bite limits.

I peeked at your other video of him and I would suggest to avoid extra nipping at this young age, (or at least cut it down a notch later) to avoid playing with him using your hands. If your hand becomes a wrestling buddy, it'll also becomes a target!

He's a handsome pup. Enjoy him!

I was just asked yesterday how old my dog is and couldn't even remember when he was born...only when I got him :) It happens!

Also, all of us have had the nipping stage. Just start early saying "No bite" or whatever you like and make sure he doesn't think your hands are a toy! This is true with kittens too. Ever meet a cat that attacks when you go to touch it? It's because the owner played with it with their hands too often!!

IdahoCairns will offer you some more in depth advice, I'm sure!

Nope, don't have much more to add. The "no bite" command with a hand around the muzzle usually does the trick if used consistently--I use it with pups, along with a little shove backwards. Biting is normal with pups--just like human babies, every new sensation is tactile and comes thru the mouth. Sure is a pretty little Cairn in that video and he is right where he ought to be with those other dogs--right in the face! It is so much easier raising a puppy with an adult dogs who are good at teaching "the ropes".

He is a real cutie. I also used the no bite and held the snout. I also yelped if mine hurt me. Good luck with the bitting!

I was told (sorry not from this group) that if you hve a nippy pup, make a very loud high pitch yelp. It helped with both of my pups. They seem to learn that that action hutrs mom/dad. Thats my 2 cents!
