Well, there were no mint juleps, and I suspect on the gentility scale they were more NASCAIRN than Run for the Roses, but nevertheless the local Cairns has a great day at McIver Park at our club's annual Cairntastic Day. I didn't get any pictures myself, but a friend sent me this cute shot of four dogs coming out (or not) of the starting gate.

The blur on the left is our old boy Haggis - he was excited to be there and talked up a storm in the box, but after a quick exit he petered out halfway down the course and trotted back to the starting box. At 15, he's feeling his age  but still remembers the thrill of the chase. Of course, that's his registered name: Joywood's Thrill of the Chase  I'm pretty sure the puppy on the far right is Dundee's sister, Dottie. She was the second winningest dog of the day. She uncorks out of the gate and never lets up.

Oh how I wish I had a club to go to, a box to jump out of, and a park to run in. How fun! If that lineup doesn't say it all about Cairns--no picture can! Just love it Brad--thanks for the fun picture.

Sounds like a fun day but think Holly would be like the one next to Haggis - just lie down in box and stay there!!

I am taking Holly again to the UK Midland Cairn Terrier Club's Cairn Day at end of September to see if she will participate this year in the games etc!

Great picture, Brad! The first time we tried lure racing with Packy, he hated that box and got so turned around, he couldn't get out when they opened the door! This is a really bad picture, but he's the one in the middle with his butt facing out!

Oh wow. What a great picture! Personally I like the little guy who is still thinking. :confused1: How very sweet. It would be very fun to have such an event.

That's a great picture and looks like loads of fun! Haggis may be getting on in age, but he still has what it takes!! My 15 year old would have nothing to do with that

What an awesome picture - wish I could have seen in person! Love the contrast in energy between the pups.
I would definitely consider visiting Oregon to see Cairntastic day sometime in the future. We love to visit Oregon for the beaches and wine!
Must you be a member to attend?

TazTalk - all Cairnfolk are invited to Cairntastic Day! It will be run again next year, Saturday of Labor Day weekend, in the same location. Look for details on the Cairn Talk calendar as next summer winds down.

One year there were some free roaming chickens hanging around. For some reason they've not been seen since! (No chickens were harmed at our event - except possibly deafness).

That picture is great. Haggis maybe the oldest but he was the wisest getting out of the box quickly.
