Benny and Sally have been one month in Texas and are adjusting nicely. We have settled into my apartment and have been there for two weeks. Its amazing how they knew that my apartment was 'home'. They were immediately at ease as soon as we arrived at my apartment. There are 11 dogs in my building and they all love to play and socialize. Benny and Sally know which units have dogs and they always check to see if the dogs are home when we go out for a potty or a walk.

There is a walking trail at my apartment and we go for a 30 minute walk every morning and an hour walk every evening. They love it. There is a dog park 5 minutes from my apartment and they love going there to run and play. I was worried about how they would handle apartment living, but they are doing just fine.

Sally is not anxious now that we are at my apartment. Benny and Sally are well liked throughout the apartment because they are sweet and friendly with all dogs and people. My neighbors just love them. Actually, Benny and Sally seem happier down in Texas with their new life. I think they like the socialization of the apartment and all the dogs. There Behavior is much better. Benny actually came when he was called today at the dog park. He is a new dog.

Thats the update for now. Hope everyone is well.

That's a great update. So happy that Benny & Sally, the new kids, are adjusting, thriving and loved by neighbors and dogs alike. It is so nice when a change goes well. Sounds like you're in a great neighborhood. Glad that everybody is contented with the move.

Cairns are adaptable little cusses, as "go with the flow" as any breed of dog I know of--I'm not the least surprised that your dogs rocked in quickly with the change. I think they sense where "home" is and always act accordingly. Nice to know your dogs are being good Cairns.

It sounds as if things are going well for you. Congratulations! I just bought my first house 3 years ago at the age of 43. Everyone told me how much I would love owning my own home. For the most part I do, but there are times that I really miss carefree apartment living. I tell my friends all the time that I'm going to chuck it all and go back into an apartment, especially now that my kids are all grown up and (just about) gone. I think if I decided to do it, and could find an apartment that allowed dogs, Ozzy would be just fine. Animals seem to become more attached to smells and things than they do dwellings. If your stuff is there, it's home.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Its really been such a blessing down here in Texas. I love it, the dogs love it. I have never been so happy in my life. I took such a risk when I packed my car and moved to a new town with no job lined up...but its working out so well. I love my job here and Benny and Sally have never been so happy. Its great when the risks work out so well.

Risk takers are usually the kind of people that are successful. Congrats on making the right move--I admire you for it. Cairns are happy where ever happy owners are.
