I am thinking of getting K9 advantix online this time instead of vets. Is it safe to buy online? What to watch for. I got a coupon from petcareRx looks the same as from vets but not sure? They say their products are EPA and FDA approved, where do you all buy from.

I'm located near Revival Animal Health's main office/warehouse so I always buy a flea/tick spray directly from them.

it is buyer beware when buying it online..I would stick with reputable companies like Revival. I bought some last year that turned out to be fake. Probably just glycerin in a tube...I called Bayer and they told me what to look for on the lable.

I looked into buying online and I would thinkthe site advertised for percare rx is safe- but the problem is you need a prescription for alot of the things like heartguard and my vet wont write one for them, (i think it would be difficult to get a vet to do that) and yes Ive bout the flea and tick from there-its cheaper and it is the same products. saved me some $ anyway-but also its again not a required rx.

Ask your vet if they will price-match. I was telling my vet that I was comparing the on-line prices and she offered to match any price I found, and she has for several months. I do stick to what I consider to be reputable sites though, some of the offers you see are just too cheap to be genuine, safe products.

I think PetcareRx is safe and we have bought from them before...except your question sent me to the Better Business Bureau website and I found out they got an "F" from the Better Business Bureau and are not accredited by the Better Business Bureau, so now I am questioning whether we should buy from them again. Costco sells frontline and advantage and I trust Costco over what I found out about PetcareRx.

I should add that the complaints listed on BBB.org had to do with customer service and billing, not product. Where did you get the bad product from, PeppersMom?

Thanks for the input. I was going to buy online from PetCareRx just because it is easier to buy online than from the vet, it is a bayer product and the label on the box looks the same.

I buy from drs foster and smith online- Now for k9advantix and frontline you can use this money saving trick- buy the biggest size they offer, you'll notice that the price only goes up a few dollars for the highest weight class.... when you order get a few syringes with the order... a CC = ML - I keep an empty dispenser tube for the k9advantix that I use and I just draw up the needed ML for my weight class, then put it in the empty tube and put it on the dog.... it has saved me a lot of money. I keep the cap then recap opened one and I seal it in a mini zip lock bag... I note when I used it and what I think is left in the bottle. Do not use the syringe to store it, it will clog up the needle and becareful becasue it will just run out the needle too... it's only used for measuring the correct ML for the dose.

I've been doing my flea/tick meds this way for several years now and havne't had an issue.... and i've saved a lot of money.

Please note: this only works with the liquid flea/tick meds that give you more product for the size of the dog.

Good luck, and PM me if you need any more info.

Yup, definitely. It's really expensive to get flea and tick medication from your Vet in Canada. I have been buying it online successfully for three years now with no problems. I use various sources: eBay, Canadavet.com, etc. Now, I have to get heartworm medication from our Vet because you can't get that online

Thanks for the tip Tracy A. that seems like a great idea if you are buying online.

Pepper's Mom what did Bayer tell you to look for?

buying off ebay is very risky, you don't know what your getting or where its coming from. a seller can list their locations as anywehre they want... I found this out when i bought the west wing complete series dvd set- thought i was getting a great price from a seller in the midwest... What did I get? got a bootleg knock off set from China- and could do nothing about it. I find it's far better to order from a known pet med site with custoemr sevcie that youc an contact here in the USA if you have issues or need to return it.... using the dividing the does down is the money saving without risking your dogs health.

I always buy on-line from E-bay. I've never had any issues. I usually use the same couple of sellers who have proven themselves. Check out their feedback before purchasing. If you're nervous about doing that, look in a Pet Supplies plus if you have them where you live. They sell Advantage and Frontline. It's a bit pricey though.

To be honest, I love using Adams Flea and Tick spray over the topical applicators. It comes in a spray bottle and you just spray it on from time to time and let it air dry - super easy, the dog's coat doesn't get the yucky greasy strip and you don't have to worry about F&T collars. I've never had a problem with fleas or ticks when I've used it. The great part, it's not very expensive at all (I want to say $12 a bottle, but thats off the top of my head) and it lasts a long time.

Here's the link to it - and I guess its only $8 a bottle. http://www.revivalan...t-with-IGR.aspx

Frontline also has a spray formula and I know people have tried and liked before
